Marilyn's Blue Dress

It's summertime sadness in the sweetest sundress by Blueberry Hill Fashions! Marilyn's photos taken by Sam Shaw in Amagansett, New York, during her marriage to Arthur Miller, are up there with my favorite Monroe sets. With a rich setting featuring New York's countryside, Marilyn frolics in the forest looking radiant and carefree, with a touch of sadness.

A 1950s daydress is probably the most reoccurring theme in my wardrobe, with California's warm weather, as well as my preference of comfort and ease in the heat. Mid Century made sundresses were always feminine and fitted, bringing attention to the waist, and bustline. Marilyn's blue polka dot dress always had my heart, as it checked all my boxes for the perfect summertime design.

I had been searching for Marilyn's original dress style, which was also featured in a vintage catalog, so I knew there might be a possibility of finding one. I happened to stumble upon BlueBerry Hill Fashion's version, and instantly knew I had to have this reproduction!

It is not only comfortable and light, but structured and tailored exactly like thee dress. I absolutely love shoulder ties, an accentuated waist and bust, and a darling fit and flare silhouette - in which this design has all of the above! I added a tulle skirt underneath for some added fullness, but truly the dress is a star on its own as well.

The great thing about this dress is that it is offered in size 4-22! Blueberry Hill Fashions really knocked it out of the park with this flawless reproduction, and after paying such close attention to Marilyn's wardrobe over the years, I can honestly say this is my go-to!
